Emmy award-winning cinematographer & photographer

Lex Jones is an Emmy Award–winning, Telly Award winning and Panda Award–winning Director of Photography, widely recognized for his work in blue-chip wildlife cinematography. With over a decade of experience, he has worked across some of the world’s most respected natural history productions for broadcasters including Disney, National Geographic, BBC, Netflix, and Apple TV.

Lex is known for his distinctive approach to macro and long-lens cinematography, capturing intimate wildlife behavior with a cinematic focus. While initially brought onto productions as Head DOP, his role often expanded into creative direction, writing, and story development, reflecting his deep understanding of how strong visual storytelling is built from the ground up.

His work has taken him into some of the most remote and demanding environments on Earth, where patience, preparation, and problem-solving are essential. That field experience, combined with an in-depth knowledge of modern camera systems and workflows, has shaped his practical and story-driven filmmaking style.

Lex is the founder of Wildlife Film Productions, where he develops and produces high-end natural history films with a focus on blue-chip craftsmanship, strong behavior-led storytelling, and long-term observational filmmaking.
